Marker in Danville, Is This actually the Place?         
On September 27, 1903, a Southern Express train crashed in Danville, killing nine people and injuring seven. The event inspired the famous ballad of the same name. A marker is located on U.S. 58 between Locust Lane and North Main Street at the train crash site.
